Amusements plugin for WordPress is available! Amusements is a simple plugin that can basically display up to five of your current favourates in books, music, movie, games, (in fact anything) anywhere in your wordpress blog. The screenshot to the right shows a sidebar implimentation displaying a book, an audio book, and a DVD set. Each entry can have an image and a link (for example, to Amazon where the amusement is available). The current version of Amusements is version 1.2.
Download and documentation are available here.
Amusements is under GPL and is available for free. You can download, use, modify, or keep in the back of your plugins directory in total disregard for eternity.
Please leave a comment here for bug report and additional support.
**Update: Version 1.2 is now available.

Note that some people are experiencing problems in the sidebar of some themes, where the amusement entries are placed incorrectly. This problem may be theme-specific due to some ill-behaving CSS definitions. I will look into this problem.

A strange bug has been reported on some earlier versions of WP1.5. Apparently if you install and activate both Amusements and Challenge, both option pages will appear the to be for Challenge, i.e. you will not be able to change options for Amusements.
A work-around is to deactivate one of the plugins while you are changing the options for the other. It’s stupid, I know, but since WP1.5 is on the way out and 2.0 has no such problems, I probably won’t be spending too much time looking into this problem.
However on the other hand, if you have a solution to this, I’ll certainly be very glad to hear it.

New bug fix is available (1.1). Now Amusements uses CSS-stylable table instead of list to avoid display problem. Some backslash issues were also resolved.

The WP 1.5 bug is a bug with WP 1.5 itself. There was an options page bug (you can research this with a quick google search) which was fixed in the next release of the 1.5 branch, if I recall correctly.

The page in which I have included the “Amusements” plug in no longer validates. I am working with XHTML 1.0 transitional.

I worked on amusements.php and got it to validate. Original check showed 58 errors. Removed and moved “/” etc.

Thank you all very much for the feedbacks, bug reports, and suggestions. Yes I have been neglecting (and may continue to do so for a little while) these plugins due to my taking on another big project at work. I promise to return to them as soon as the current project has slowed down a bit.

These lines are repeatedly shown instead of the images, that show only at the bottom:
WordPress database error: [Table ‘Sql72467_3.wp_options’ doesn’t exist]
SELECT option_value FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = ‘amusements_desc1′ LIMIT 1
What the heck does it want from my SQL db?
Thanks for the support,
Francesco
